Spotify has announced the availability of offline music downloads for Apple Watch.

Spotify has announced that premium subscribers with an Apple Watch can now download music and podcasts to listen to offline. Earlier this week, Google revealed a similar functionality for Wear OS at I/O 2021.

Apple Watch customers can now download playlists, songs, and podcasts directly to their wrists with the new function. Existing capabilities such as Connect & Control and Siri support will also be available to Apple Watch owners. Users will be able to say things such, "Hey Siri, play my Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify," using the latter capability.

Spotify stated in a statement that "being able to download music and podcasts compliments the existing functionality of being able to stream your favourites from the watch, and now you don't even have to take your phone with you." “It's ideal for your next run or for keeping both hands on the stove while cooking.”

Spotify said that this is the first iteration of the widely anticipated download experience for Spotify for the Apple Watch, and that it may change in the future. As more individuals get their hands on the function, the firm is requesting feedback in order to improve it.

To download music to your Apple Watch, go to the music or podcast you wish to put on your watch and select it. Once you've made your selection, hit the three dots (...) and select "Download to Apple Watch." You'll notice a small green arrow next to an item once it's been downloaded. After that, all you have to do is attach your headphones to your Apple Watch and you're ready to go.

Spotify had already made it possible to stream music on Apple's wearable device without having to have an iPhone nearby. Previously, Apple's wearable was mostly used as a remote control. Of course, the function will only work if you have a cellular or Wi-Fi connection.

Apple Watch offline downloads are available starting today and will be rolled out to all users worldwide over the next few weeks.
